New Zealand: A Natural Wonderland
June in New Zealand is beginning of winter. So, dress up and stay warm! That said, if you’re visiting New Zealand’s north island, you’re in for a treat for an “onsen” experience. New Zealand’s numerous hot springs are especially welcome during the winter seasons. We'll let you in on two Sunday Shades' "secret and fave" hotsprings: Te Aroha hot spring in north island and Maruia hot spring in south island.
Besides hot springs, the many unbelievably beautiful landscapes are why people visit New Zealand. If you are pressed for time, here are two must-visit places when you are in New Zealand:
Milford Sound: Nature’s Masterpiece
Moving on to New Zealand, this country is like stepping into a postcard. Milford Sound is one of those places that leaves you speechless. A scenic cruise through the fjords will show you towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and maybe even some dolphins or seals. The water is so reflective that it creates perfect mirror images of the surroundings – it’s a photographer’s dream.
Queenstown: The Adventure Capital
For the thrill-seekers, Queenstown is your playground. Known as the adventure capital of New Zealand, it offers everything from bungee jumping and skydiving to white-water rafting and paragliding. Even if you’re not an adrenaline junkie, there are plenty of other activities like taking a leisurely bike ride around Lake Wakatipu or enjoying a glass of wine at one of the local vineyards. Queenstown is a place where you can push your limits or just relax and take in the stunning scenery.
European Escapades: History, Culture, and Scenic Beauty
Think Europe and for many, one of the first countries that come to mind is France. Think France, and your thoughts invariably are drawn to the romantic city of Paris.
Paris: The City of Light
Ah, Europe – where to even begin? Let’s start with Paris. This city needs no introduction. Walk along the Seine, marvel at the Eiffel Tower, and get lost in the endless corridors of the Louvre. Paris is all about art, culture, and romance. Sip on some coffee at a sidewalk café, enjoy a croissant or a baguette, and just soak in the Parisian vibes. And of course, a visit to the Palace of Versailles is a must for its opulence and history.
The Swiss Alps: A Hiker’s Paradise
If yodeling is not your thing, there are endless other activities that can satisfy your senses while in Switzerland. Switzerland in summer is a hiker’s wonderland.
Switzerland is home to some of the most picturesque hiking trails in the world. Imagine hiking through lush green meadows, with the sound of cowbells in the distance and the snow-capped peaks towering above you. Whether you’re trekking up to the Matterhorn or taking a leisurely stroll around Lake Geneva, the Swiss Alps offer something for every level of hiker.
Of course, one mustn’t miss on Swiss chocolates and cheeses. If you’re in Geneva, do try out its famed cheese fondue. Have a relaxing vacation and save the planet by travelling on one of Switzerland’s famed trains. You’ll be amazed at how the train announcements changes from French, to German to Italian as you travel from the west to the south. Such is the diverse culture you can expect to find in this land of beauty.
USA: Diverse Landscapes and Thrilling Adventures
The Grand Canyon: Nature’s Wonder
Last but definitely not least, let’s talk about the USA. The Grand Canyon is one of those places that you just have to see to believe. It’s vast, it’s awe-inspiring, and it’s beautiful. Whether you’re hiking down into the canyon, taking a helicopter tour, or simply enjoying the view from the rim, the Grand Canyon is an experience like no other. Summer is an excellent time to visit the Grand Canyon. The south rim is the place you want to visit – it is the best introduction to Grand Canyon. If you want to go off the beaten track but want a similar experience, check out Bryce Canyon instead.
While you’re in the states, it’s easy to visit the Yosemite National Park, Disneyland in LA and driving the breath-taking Pacific Coast highway. You’ll definitely need more than a week to visit the USA to make your trip worthwhile.
